Building truly resilient organisations starts from within. Focusing on the foundations of human resilience radiates out to support organisational resilience. How individuals, leaders and teams interact and support each other is a vital part of the foundations of resilience with empathetic listening as a core skill therein. This study in the journal Journal of the American Medical Association JAMA shows that empathetic listening has a greater effect on resilience than other forms of support; and in fact showed that this type of interaction compensates for related early markers of neuroanatomical decreases in the areas of the brain associated with cognition.
Enhancing social support within your organisation will develop a solid pillar for growth and resilience.
