Dr Janine-Nicole Desai
Janine has a passion for applying leading ideas inspired by research in pragmatic, highly commercial organisations. She holds an MBA and a PhD in Service Quality linking organisational culture to financial results awarded by The University of Manchester (MBS). As TNT Express Scholar she worked with the Company in the three years running up to the organisation winning the European Service Quality Award. A pioneer in 1996, her thesis highlighted the impact of individual perceptions of local management style on employees’ overall commitment, about a decade before engagement theories and a shift in management practices became more widely popular. However, Janine felt she would add more value by working directly with organisations translating research findings into action rather than pursuing an academic career.
For the past 25 years she has developed extensive expertise across the entire spectrum of HR accountability by holding leadership roles in a variety of sectors. Her experience was gained in blue-chip organisations from Goldman Sachs to Hilton Worldwide where she has observed and developed best practice. Originally from Germany, all her roles have included international accountability and working in multi-cultural teams.
Today she enjoys offering this expertise to a wide spectrum of businesses through her work as consultant, NED and executive coach. Her systemic approach is ideally suited to organisations looking to get to the root cause of any issues they are experiencing. It not only draws on an extensive range of ideas from business management but also on a wide spectrum of CPD activity from family therapy to trauma coaching. One of her most recent certifications was in Neuroscience for Business by MIT (2021). A qualified Executive Coach, Janine is skilled at both listening and challenging. She is also a Chartered Fellow of the CIPD and a Fellow of the Institute of Directors.
